七夕节的由来如何用英语表述

The enchanting origins of Qixi Festival, also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day or Double Seventh Festival, are steeped in ancient folklore. Legends speak of a humble cowherd named Niulang, an honest and kind-hearted man who lived in a small village. Raised by an elder brother due to the early demise of his parents, Niulang led a simple life.

One fateful day, the heavens sent down a beautiful fairy named Zhinu to bathe in a nearby river. Coincidentally, Niulang passed by and laid eyes on Zhinu's exquisite clothing on the riverbank. He took the clothes away, thus forcing Zhinu to remain on earth and ultimately leading them to fall deeply in love.

Their love blossomed, and they were blessed with a son and a daughter, living a blissful life together. However, the Emperor of Heaven, upon learning of their union, became furious and ordered the Goddess of Heaven to intervene and bring Zhinu back to the heavens. Heartbroken, Niulang pursued his wife, along with their two children, but the Goddess of Heaven intervened, using her hairpin to create a vast river in the sky, the infamous Milky Way, separating them.

Their unwavering love moved the magpies of the world. Every year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, countless magpies gathered their strength and flew to the sky, forming a bridge across the Milky Way. This bridge allowed Niulang and Zhinu to reunite on this auspicious day. Thus, was born the Qixi Festival, a symbol of the enduring love between Niulang and Zhinu.

In modern times, Qixi Festival has transformed into a romantic celebration, akin to Valentine's Day in Western culture. Lovers embrace this festival with fervor, expressing their affection through gifts, romantic dinners, and various other enchanting activities. The festival is not just a celebration of love but also a reminder of the enduring power of love and its ability to transcend even the vastest distances.
